NANTAIS, JEAN PIERRE GREGOIRE dit (b. BET 1733 AND 1759, d. BEF 1859)
Note: The surname Gregoire has had many changes. Some family members continued using the Gregoire surname, while others changed it to Gregory. Some family members added dit names of Nantais, Dufils, and Valentin. In these lines, the Gregoire surname was eventually dropped.

The "dit Nantais" was not listed as part of his name on all three of his marriage records.

Marie Anne's marriage record in Notre Dame, Quebec shows her father as Jean Gregoire-Nantais. Another source that may mean his name is really Jean Pierre.

NOTE: Possible birthdate about 1759 according to Mae Cote's family history. She shows his father as being born in France in 1733.
NOTE: Possible birthdate 1736 according to Chris Korval's family history.
She shows him as being born in France; but no date for migration to Canada.

Nantais, Benjamin (b. 25 MAY 1802, d. SEP 1881)
Note: 1881 Census shows Benjamin as 83 years old, which would mean his birth date was about 1798; but Denissen shows he was born in 1802 (discrepency).
